Man Shoots Grandmother During Dispute In Dunwoody: Police

The 62-year-old woman was in stable condition after the Perimeter Trace shooting, police said.

DUNWOODY, GA — A 23-year-old man accused of shooting his 62-year-old grandmother in the upper chest Sunday night is facing charges, Dunwoody Police said Monday.

Officers responded around 10 p.m. to the 3000 block of Perimeter Trace, where they found the woman with a single gunshot wound, police said.

The shooting was the result of a brief verbal altercation, police said. The woman was in stable condition Monday morning, police said.

Police identified the accused shooter as Erick Beasley. Police said Beasley left the scene after the shooting; however, he was found in the area about an hour later and was arrested without further incident.

Beasley was charged on suspicion of aggravated assault-family violence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said. He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail, police said.
