Middle GA RESA Job Fair Announced for January 10th (middlegeorgiaceo.com) — If you’re eyeing a school job in or around Macon, a major education job fair is coming to Westside High School on Heath Road on January 10, 2026. Middle Georgia RESA and eight nearby districts, including Bibb County, will interview for teaching and support roles and offer guidance on becoming a certified educator.
   

2. Man to serve life sentence for 2021 killing of Macon woman, prosecutors say (macon.com) — A Bibb County jury has sentenced Quteavis Quayshon Simmons to life in prison for the 2021 shooting death of Macon resident Harriett Patrick after he mistakenly believed she was his ex-girlfriend’s new partner. Prosecutors from the Macon Judicial Circuit say the case required out-of-state efforts to secure key witnesses, and Patrick’s family and community are remembered as losing a devoted wife, mother, veteran and breast cancer survivor.
   

3. Central Georgia woman, man form unexpected friendship after she began driving him home from work a year ago (13wmaz.com) — A Macon Kroger worker’s long, late-night walks from Jones County turned into an unexpected friendship when a local shopper began giving him regular rides home. Over the past year and a half, their simple carpool has become a source of safety, comfort, and healing for both, rooted in everyday kindness on Macon’s streets.

Central Chargers' 1975 State Championship Winning Team Honored on 50th Anniversary (41nbc.com) — Central High School in Macon honored its legendary 1975 state championship football team Friday night, marking 50 years since the Chargers captured the county’s only football state title. Seven former players returned to a packed gym, drawing a standing ovation as fans relived the 11-1 season, playoff run, and enduring legacy that still shapes Chargers football today.
