'Aggressive Recruitment Blitz' Begins At Cobb Sheriff's Office
More than 100 positions are open at the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, including deputy sheriffs and civilian positions.
COBB COUNTY, GA — The Cobb County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill more than 100 vacant positions in the department.
Cobb Sheriff Craig Owens said Monday he launched "an aggressive recruitment blitz" to fill the positions, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. Of the 100 open spots, 69 positions are open for deputy sheriffs, 23 for civilian positions, seven for detention center staff and six for part-time civilian roles.
Full-time deputy sheriff roles start at $46,000 annually, depending on prior experience, according to a news release. Deputy sheriff positions also include bonuses for completion of training programs and a 12-month probationary period.

Additionally, salary increases are also available based on educational attainment. For example, those who earn a bachelor's degree can receive an additional $2,000 per year.

- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 21 years old
- Obtain high school diploma or GED
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have good employment history
- Have good personal references
The Cobb sheriff's office does not allow tattoos or branding on the head, neck, scalp, hands or fingers, the recruitment website said.
Candidates for law enforcement positions will be subject to a physical agility test, background investigation, interview process, polygraph examination, medical examination and psychological evaluation.
