Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- Some Cobb County Animal Services animals have been approved for adoption. The shelter is still closed as a precaution after a strep zoo case was confirmed earlier this month. The adoption-approved animals will be available in a trailer that has been set up near the shelter on Al Bishop Drive. (Cobb County Courier)
- A Cobb County man has been accused of impersonating a highway emergency response operator. Jerardson Roshad Mackey, 33 years old, was arrested on felony charges for impersonating a Georgia Department of Transportation public figure. Mackey was wearing a police uniform and was driving a retired department vehicle when he was pulled over on July 20. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Marietta History Center will be hosting a special presentation by Christa McCay. The presentation will be part of the Center's On Doing History lecture series. McCay will be speaking on Aug. 13 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss the research, methods, and preservation of Marietta City Cemetery. (Cobb County Courier)
