Charges Filed in Cobb Parkway Accident

The June 2 collision on Cobb Parkway and White Circle severely injured one man.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a drunk driver involved in a June 2013 accident that seriously injured another motorist.

Just before 2:20 a.m. June 2, Timothy George Gates of Sandy Springs was driving a 2003 Subaru Outback on the wrong side of Cobb Parkway at White Circle with his headlights off, according to the warrant.

A head on collision between the Outback and another motor vehicle left the other driver with multiple fractured bones and holes in his liver and diaphragm. His spleen was surgically removed and he has been confined to a walker and crutches for support as a result of the collision, according to the warrant.

At the time of the collision, Gates blood alcohol level was .148, records show. The legal limit is .08.

Gates faces one count each of driving on the wrong side of the road, driving under the influence, driving without headlights, reckless driving and serious injury by vehicle.
