- Marietta city offices will be closed on Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day. Essential services such as the police and fire departments will remain open. The schedule for garbage, yard waste, and recycling will be changed to accommodate the city office closures. Please plan accordingly. (City of Marietta)
- The Georgia State Patrol reports a bystander was killed by a suspect fleeing from the Cobb County Police Department on Friday morning. The incident occurred on Roosevelt Highway and Delano Road. The driver of a Honda Pilot died at the scene when the suspect's vehicle collided with it. The suspect was arrested while attempting to flee on foot from the crash and their identity has not been released by the department as of Friday evening. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- A federal judge has dismissed the $150 million lawsuit filed against a Cobb County Police Department officer. The suit was filed by Vincent Truitt's family after he was shot twice in the back while fleeing from the officer near the Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park. The officer was cleared in 2021 by a grand jury. The judge dismissed the lawsuit because the filing failed "to state a claim." (WSBTV)
