Cobb Weather Shelter Opens, Jim Miller Park Vaccine Site Closed
The closure of the vaccination site and the weather shelter opening are both due to the possibility of black ice and the cold temperatures.
COBB COUNTY, GA — After heavy rain and overnight sub-freezing temperatures gave way to the possibility of black ice, Cobb County government and public health officials are taking precautions for staff and residents.
Cobb and Douglas Public Health will close its COVID-19 vaccination site at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta all day Tuesday due to the cold temperatures, per a county press release. Those who had appointments will be contacted by the department to reschedule via text message, phone call and/or email with a new appointment date and time.
Additionally, MUST Ministries opened its winter weather shelter at 8 p.m. Monday, located at 55 Elizabeth Church Road in Marietta. The shelter opens to men, women and children when the temperatures dip below 35 degrees Fahrenheit. For more information and to make sure the shelter is open, call 678-384-5727.
