- Marietta Police Department's Major Michael Goins received the Inspirational Law Enforcement Officer of the Year from the National Association of Police Athletic League (NPAL). The award is meant to recognize Goins' work with the organization through the past 36 years with the department. Goins reports that community policing is incredibly important to him. (11 Alive)
- The Marietta City Council is considering a $958,000 grant program for local arts, culture, and tourism organizations. The grant amount is a slight increase from last year's $929,000. The funds are provided through the city's three percent auto rental tax. (Yahoo)
