Out With BBQ Ribs, In With Burrata: Old Shane's Rib Shack Site Gets New Owner In Cobb

CUMBERLAND, GA — It appears an existing Italian restaurant will find a new home in a Cumberland location that once housed the sole Shane's Rib Shack in Cobb County.

Signage on the door at 3155 Cobb Pkwy. in Atlanta's Cumberland area shows Crispina Ristorante and Pizzeria is planning to open in the place where pulled pork and loaded barbecue baked potatoes were once served.

It is unknown when the new eatery will open, but a sign on the business' window hints that a grand opening is in the works.

Crispina currently operates two other locations: 3300 Cobb Pkwy. SE, Suite 208, in Vinings; and 425 Ernest W. Barrett Pkwy. NW, Unit 1000, in Kennesaw.

It is managed and co-owned by Andriano Djula, according to the company website.

Customers are served calamari fritti, burrata, minestroni, various salads, pappardelli pompei, various pizzas, homemade tiramisu, cannolis and panicottas.

The Vinings site, which opened on May 15, offers to-go options and catering. A note on Crispina Kennesaw's website indicated the location was new.

Shane's Rib Shack closed its doors for the last time on July 27 after more than 20 years in the area. The Cumberland location was among the chain's recent restaurant closures.

It is not publicly known why the beloved barbecue eatery shuttered.

For Cobb County customers, the nearest Shane's locations are 5770 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Norcross and 1221 Caroline St. NE in Atlanta's Edgewood community.
