Inmate Escapes Cobb Hospital While Treated For Gunshot Wounds: Police

Police found a man who escaped police custody Wednesday while being treated at Kennestone Hospital for gunshot wounds.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Marietta police found and re-arrested a man who broke out of handcuffs and escaped custody while being treated at a hospital, WAGA-TV reported.

Ulysses Roberson, 37, of Austell, was first arrested Wednesday night in connection with a shooting, police said. They found Roberson on Cobb Parkway around 8:30 p.m. and took him to Kennestone Hospital to treat his gunshot wounds. While at the hospital, around 1:45 a.m. he broke out of his handcuffs and ran away.

According to WAGA-TV, Marietta police found Roberson Friday morning by using tips from citizens, license plate camera readers, and undercover tactics to track him to a Super 8 motel on the 600 block of Franklin Gateway.

Roberson is now back in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention center facing narcotics and felony escape charges.
