Man Waving Rifle On Roof Of Marietta Home Shot By Police

According to Marietta police, the man suffered injuries that are not life threatening and the GBI is investigating the shooting.

MARIETTA, GA — A man waving a rifle on the roof of a Marietta home was shot and injured by officers Saturday night, according to police.

Marietta Police said firefighters were dispatched for a medical call in the 100 block of Frances Avenue around 10:30 p.m. According to police, a person called 911 saying his son was in crisis and suicidal.

Firefighters saw a man on the roof of the home with a rifle and asked police to respond. Police said the 25-year-old man was waving a rifle and refused verbal command to drop the weapon.

According to police, the man pointed the rifle at officers who shot and struck the man before he dropped the weapon and surrendered.

The man was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life threatening. No one else was injured, police said.
