19 Year Old Dies After Losing Control Of Car, Crashing; Police Say He Was Racing
Cobb police said they believe 19-year-old Edwin Gutierrez of Marietta was racing someone when he lost control and crashed into another car.
MARIETTA, GA — Cobb County police said a Marietta teen was racing another driver on South Cobb Drive when he lost control, crashed into another car, injured another person and died.
Just after 4 p.m. Saturday, Edwin Gutierrez, 19, of Marietta, was driving eastbound on South Cobb Drive headed toward Cobb Parkway. The driver of a Ford Explorer was driving westbound on the roadway.
Gutierrez lost control of his car while turning left, spun out and crossed into the westbound lanes. He crashed into the front of the Ford.

The 19-year-old was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Ford driver was treated for minor injuries on the scene.
Investigators believe Gutierrez was racing another car when he lost control. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
