Murder Suspect Arrested In Marietta Man's Shooting Death At Car Wash

A man was found shot to death in a bay at a Marietta car wash, and the person accused of killing him is facing murder charges.

MARIETTA, GA — Police have arrested a 70-year-old Marietta man after accusing him of shooting to death a 59-year-old man and leaving him in the middle of a Bellemeade Drive car wash bay.

Marietta Police on Tuesday said Robert Baker is facing murder charges in connection with the Dec. 30, 2024 shooting death of Marietta resident Daniel Lanard Richardson Jr., who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Richardson and Baker were known to one another, but the specifics of their acquaintance were not immediately known. A motive for the shooting is unknown.

Baker was arrested Monday night and was charged on suspicion of felony murder, felony aggravated assault and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, police said.

He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, police said.
