$40K in Nails Stolen in Cobb: Thief Sentenced to 20 Years
Jury convicted Morris Michael McCoy this week of stealing from Austell business.

SOUTH COBB, GA -- A Cobb County jury on Tuesday found Morris Michael McCoy, 38, guilty of stealing a trailer by hooking it up to his semi-tractor.
Morris Michael McCoy, 38, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with seven years hard time and the remainder on probation, according to news release from the Cobb County District Attorney's Office.
McCoy, who represented himself during his trial, is a repeat offender with at least four felony theft convictions involving stealing various goods using a vehicle.

Prosecutors alleged that in January 2013, McCoy went to National Nail Corp. in Austell and hooked his tractor up to a 53-foot trailer and hauled it away. The tractor contained $40,000 worth of nails.
“This Defendant has spent 20 years cleaning out the inventories of small businesses and jeopardizing the legitimate livelihoods of numerous hard-working individuals,” Assistant District Attorney Sherwin Figueroa said, according to the news release.

McCoy, who has been locked up since October 2015, will get credit for the time he has been behind bars, the Cobb DA said.
