Ted's Montana Grill walks away from Marietta Square deal (mdjonline.com) — Ted’s Montana Grill has scrapped plans to build on Marietta Square’s long-vacant “Goldstein Gap” lot after intense social media backlash over bringing a chain restaurant downtown. The $5 million project had city approvals and years of negotiations, but the company now says it won’t invest unless the Marietta community clearly invites them back.
   

2. Cobb Community Foundation Adds Four Influential Leaders to Its Board (cobbcountycourier.com) — A key local voice, Marietta Daily Journal publisher Otis Brumby III, has joined the Cobb Community Foundation board alongside three other prominent Cobb leaders. Their terms began January 1, 2026, and they’ll help guide philanthropy that supports schools, health care, youth programs, and community development across Cobb County, including Marietta.

Metro Atlanta stars shine on stage in Hell's Kitchen (11alive.com) — A Broadway tour star now performing in “Hell’s Kitchen” at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre got his first professional break at Marietta Theatre in the Square, underscoring how local stages can launch big careers. His journey from metro Atlanta training to a national tour highlights the importance of community theaters in nurturing young talent and creativity close to home.
   

4. A big defensive move is brewing as Texas hosts star transfer DE today (hookemheadlines.com) — A former Walton High School standout from Marietta, defensive end Wendell Gregory, is now one of the top players in the college football transfer portal and drawing serious interest from Texas. After starring at Oklahoma State in 2025, he’s being courted as a versatile pass rusher who can play multiple spots along the defensive front.
