Marietta Woman Found After Mattie's Call Issued (UPDATED)

Silva Harris was found safe after disappearing Jan. 4 outside a facility on Delk Road.

MARIETTA, GA -- Police in Marietta said that a woman missing from an an adult day care on Delk Road has been found safe.

Silva Harris, 53, was wearing a red coat, a red and white skull cap with white tennis shoes when she disappeared on Jan. 4, Marietta police said on Facebook. Police last week issued a Mattie's Call, an emergency alert, to help find her.

"Cancel Mattie's Call for Silva Harris. She has been located safe and returned back to family," the police said Sunday in a news release.

The woman was dropped off at the facility, which was still closed due to the New Year's holiday, on Jan. 4 about 9 a.m. It wasn't until after 2 p.m. that someone noticed that Harris had wandered away.

The Marietta Police Department was imploring the public to help locate Harris because she suffers from a number of conditions, including catatonia, paranoid schizophrenia and hypertension.

She is described as being about 5’5” tall, 215 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Mattie's Call is an emergency missing alert specifically for elderly or disabled persons. It originated from the case of Mattie Moore, a 67-year-old Atlanta woman who went missing in 2004. Her body was found eight months later in a wooded area just yards from her home.
