  1. The Cobb Animal Shelter has temporarily closed to the public due to an outbreak of Streptococcus zooepidemicus. The bacterial infection is commonly referred to as strep zoo. The infection causes a serve bloody pneumonia in dogs and toxic-shock syndrome in humans. Only one animal has shown symptoms. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. A teenager has been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run of a man and a six- year-old boy. The incident occurred in Marietta along Chert Road between Roswell Road and Gresham Road on Friday. 19-year-old Horacio Lopez-Vail has been charged with reckless driving, driving without a license, tampering with evidence, serious injury by vehicle, felony hit-and-run, and more. The two individuals are being treated at local hospitals. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. The Cobb County International Festival is currently accepting vendor and entertainer applications. The festival will be on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Jim R. Miller Park.
