Teen Arrested For Allegedly Threatening Marietta Middle School
A post on social media said someone was threatening to "shoot up" Marietta Middle School.

MARIETTA, GA -- A 14-year-old male has been arrested after allegedly threatening to "shoot up" Marietta Middle School. On Sunday, school principal Dr. Dayton Hibbs notified the Marietta police school resource officer that social media threats had been discovered against the school. According to the posts that were brought to his attention by parents, someone was making threats to “shoot up the school.”
Detectives were notified and began an investigation. The suspect was arrested Monday afternoon and was taken to the Cobb youth detention facility. He was been charged with making terroristic threats.
Police said the suspect has previous ties to the school but is not a student within the Marietta City School district.

MCS Superintendent Dr. Grant Rivera said: “I continue to be thankful for the ongoing partnership and collaboration with the MPD. This should be a reminder to all students that they are responsible for their digital footprint and threats of violence within our schools will not be tolerated.”
