GAC to Compete in North Gwinnett Regional 7on7 Football Championship

Sugar Hill, GA- The North Gwinnett Regional 7on7 officially kicks-off the 2013 National Select 7on7 Championship Series Thursday, June 6-7, 2013, at Gary Pirkle Park in Sugar Hill, GA.  The Qualifying Tournament brings together some of the best high school football teams in the region for two days of tough competitive football. 

“We invite only the highest caliber teams to compet,.” Ken Manning, North Gwinnett Regional 7on7 Tournament Director says. “This is a National Select Qualifier, therefore we recruit teams with winning traditions that compete at those high standards deserving of National Select consideration. The result is a highly competitive tournament with the best of the best on display.”

During the tournaments five-year tenure it has racked up an alumni list that is a Who’s Who of college and professional athletes.  This year is no exception with over fourteen players with Division 1 College Football offers already on the table.

The winner of the North Gwinnett Regional 7on7 qualifies to compete with 31 teams during the National Select 7on7 Championships presented by Under Armour July 24-26, in Hoover, AL. 

“We feel the national event at Hoover is the premiere 7on7 in the country, and it contains the toughest competition,” says Bob Sphire, North Gwinnett Head Football Coach, “so our players, coaches and community get excited about the prospects of competing at the national event to see how our program measures up to some of the best teams in the nation.”

This qualifying tournament is the first of 13 National Select Qualifying Tournaments to be held this summer.  The Winner from each Qualifying Tournament will be given the chance to compete at the national level.

The North Gwinnett Regional has 15 teams battling it out for the chance to play at the Championships: North Gwinnett, GA; Gainesville, GA; Cherokee, GA; Alpharetta, GA; Centennial, GA; Jefferson County, GA; Archer, GA; Jonesboro, GA; Greater Atlanta Christian, GA; Spartanburg, SC; Shiloh, GA; Lassiter, GA; Grayson, GA; Central Gwinnett, GA; Olive Branch, MS.
