From the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce:

The recently established Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce is about to go public. The new Chamber, which represents Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners, will officially open for business on Thursday, April 18, in a Grand Opening Ceremony at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast. Networking will begin at 11 a.m. followed by our business luncheon at 11:30.

"We are excited to get our new Chamber officially open and working for business and industry in Southwest Gwinnett," said Steve Dorough, the Chamber's first Chairman of the Board. "We have been working hard for the last eighteen months to get this Chamber organized and ready for this community. The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will engage the business and community leaders who live and work in Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners to work together to enhance the quality of life for all of our citizens."

During the last few months, the Chamber's Board of Directors has been focused on developing the Chamber's 2013 Program of Work. The Chamber's efforts initially will be invested in five key areas:
1) Support for Existing Business (Co-Chaired by Nancy Minor and Luke Snider);
2) Economic Redevelopment (Chaired by Skip Nau);
3) Education (Chaired by Kim Dorough);
4) Cultural & Performing Arts (Chaired by Charlie Riehm); and
5) Marketing & Communications (Chaired by Chuck Paul).

Dave Gleim is the Chamber's Chair-Elect. "The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber is the right organization at the right time in the right community. This tri-city business community is ready to take off and the Chamber is the organization that can help make that happen. We want this Chamber to become the one voice of business in our corner of Gwinnett County."

The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber is affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce and expects to partner with the Gwinnett Chamber on regional and county matters that affect the southwest Gwinnett community. "We are big fans of the Gwinnett Chamber and what they continue to do for Gwinnett County. The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will focus just on our community of 50,000 residents and 7,500 businesses to help them reach their full potential," said Chuck Paul, Vice Chair of the Chamber's new Marketing and Communications Committee.

"It just makes good sense for a business owner or manager in southwest Gwinnett County to want to be a part of their local Chamber," said Dan Robinette, owner of Image Concepts and one of the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber's newest members. "After all, this is where we live and work. So whatever happens in Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners directly impacts our businesses and our families. I want to have an active role in shaping the future of my community. The Chamber gives each of us that opportunity."

The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber's mission statement is focused on quality growth in the tri-city area: "To advance the economic, educational and cultural growth of Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners, to enhance the quality of living in our communities, and to foster continuous improvements of the tri-city area as the place to live, work and enjoy a sustained healthy quality of life."
