Man Found Dead With Gunshot Wound In Gwinnett Front Yard

NORCROSS, GA -- A man was found dead with a gunshot wound in the front of a Norcross home early Friday morning, police said.

Gwinnett Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at 1436 Silver Lake Drive in unincorporated Norcross. The call came in at 4:43 a.m. and the caller reported that someone had been shot. The identification of the man is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Officers from Gwinnett's West Precinct arrived at 4:49 a.m. and found a Hispanic man deceased in the front yard from an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives and crime scene personnel responded to process the scene.

The initial investigation revealed that he was 38 years old and originally from Mexico. He was renting a room at the location and it was not abnormal for him to come and go at various hours of the night. He had been renting the room for approximately one year. He had no relation to the other residents of the home.

Witnesses reported hearing more than one gunshot and police are working to determine how many shots were fired. At this time the motive for this crime has not been determined. Detectives are interviewing anyone that may have helpful information.
