Norcross Gas Leak Fixed, Evacuation Order Ended

Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes, and a nearby business had to put a pause on operating, while the leak was fixed.

NORCROSS, GA — A Tuesday morning gas leak on Buford Highway in Norcross was the cause of over a dozen homes being evacuated, according to reports. The evacuation lasted about an hour and has been fixed, reports say.

The Atlanta Jounal-Constitution reported that construction workers hit the gas line between Britt Avenue and S. Cemetery Street in the 5000 block of Buford Highway, causing the leak, around 11:30 a.m.

Officials closed Buford Highway to South Peachtree Street to work on the leak, according to WSB.

According to the AJC, there was a business by the leak. Around 12:30 p.m., with the leak fixed, the business was allowed to reopen and residents were allowed back home.
