Norcross Policy Work Session Tonight: Retention Pond Acquisition, New City Website and More

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday in city hall.

Mayor Bucky Johnson and the Norcross City Council are meeting Monday (May 20) for its monthly policy work session.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of Norcross City Hall, located at 65 Lawrenceville St.

-Land acquisition of Pinnacle Point: The proposal to purchase a 12.2-acre retention pond and commercial building at 250 Pinnacle Way was tabled in the May city council meeting. The purpose of the acquisition is to beautify the pond, rent out the commercial spaces, and possibly build a park and walking trail for the east side of Buford Highway. The public expressed mixed views at the earlier the meeting. Read more about it here. 

-Barton Street Waterworks facility feasibility study: There will be a presentation of the study on the facility's restoration plan and estimated cost. The facility is located at Johnson Dean Park.

-A preview of the new city of Norcross website will be shown

-Expansion of the Gwinnett Village CID: The community improvement district is proposing that 36 parcels be added to its district area. The locations, owned by 28 businesses, are spread out across the Norcross area.

-Special use permit for an adult day care center: Wholecare Wellness at 5390 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. wants to operate the daycare in a C2-zoned (general commercial) building.

-Special use permit for a place of worship: The New Jerusalem Dream Center Ministries wants to operate its church at 2900 Cole Ct., which is currently zoned as M-1 (light industrial).
