Each year, Keep DeKalb Beautiful participates in Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup initiative as a part of DeKalb County’s Earth Day activities. With these difficult economic times, it is even more important that volunteers contribute toward efforts to sustain beautiful, healthy, thriving communities.
This April, volunteers are asked to help beautify DeKalb by cleaning up dirty streets, waterways, and illegal dumpsites, as well as by greening up parks, schoolyards, MARTA bus stops and other public spaces. On Saturday, April 30, 9am - 1 pm, groups are asked to host community
cleanups and beautification projects around the county. If the weather is poor, participants may reschedule their events at their discretion.
Keep DeKalb Beautiful provides supplies such as garbage bags, brown reuse bags, plastic gloves, pick-up sticks, safety vests, and T-shirts, as supplies are available.
Last year, volunteers successfully removed 24,000 pounds of litter from 123 miles of DeKalb County roadways with the help of more than 70 community groups. We look forward to working with you on this annual day of spring-cleaning.
