Final Day for 'Off the Beaten Path' Exhibit at CDC

Today is the final day to view Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art, an exhibit of art works that explore the impact of domestic violence on the individual, the family, the community, the culture, and politics.

You can visit the exhibit between 9am and 5pm today at the David J. Sencer CDC Museum at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road NE (tel. 404-639-0830).

Randy Jayne Rosenberg, executive director of Art Works for Change, curates this show. She calls it "a multi-media traveling contemporary art exhibition that utilizes works by world-class artists to promote awareness of the root causes of violence against women; create empathy for women's stories; foster a dialogue about the pervasiveness of violence against women; and inspire the belief that women and girls can be empowered with new behavioral choices."

According to the museum's curator, Louise E. Shaw, "The premise of this exhibit is that art can be a catalyst for discussion, awareness, and change, particularly when addressing issues of social justice."

The exhibit sheds light on the great range of scenarios where violence occurs, from the individual to the political. It aims to bring awareness, knowledge, and empowerment to all.

Bring a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport. Admission and parking are free.
