Thief Leaves the Chocolates, Takes the Panasonic Television

Police believe a burglar might have chilled out with a box of chocolates before robbing a Trailmark Drive home last Tuesday.

DeKalb County police believe a burglar might have relaxed with a box chocolates in a Trailmark Drive home before robbing it of nearly $4,000 in electronics and computer equipment Tuesday.

Police were called out to a home on the 2000 block of Trailmark Drive in Decatur at about 4pm Tuesday, according to the police report. The burglary victim told police he left his home at about 8:45am and returned at about 4pm, only to find his front door open.

He stepped inside an immediately realized he had been burgled.

Among the items gone: a Panasonic TV valued at about $1,500, a laptop valued at about $1,500, a 17-inch computer monitor, about $40 in loose change and checks.

And, yet, one item had been curiously added to the home, the report said: an open box of chocolates that neither of the home's two residents could place.

"It is possible the suspect(s) were in the house for an extended period of time," the report said.
