Police Respond to Suicide Attempt on North Druid Hills Road

A man tried to kill himself Wednesday evening from a bridge over train tracks. The incident confused drivers and caused a brief traffic backup.

A man tried to commit suicide on North Druid Hills Road Wednesday evening, DeKalb County police said.

The man was sitting on the curb of the bridge talking with a police officer next to at 3352 North Druid Hills Road at about 4pm. Rope had been tied to the bridge's railing, which runs over train tracks adjacent to the driving range.

Early rush hour traffic backed up in both lanes as confused onlookers slowly passed by. No additional details were immediately available, said Mekka Parish, police spokeswoman.
