Slain Guard's Family: Castillo Was 'Loving Husband, Devoted Father'

The armored car guard killed in Tuesday's robbery had dreams of working in law enforcement, his family said.

Garry Castillo, 32, was a loving husband, devoted father that served his community and his country. Garry was born in New York. Despite facing a great deal of adversity during his adolescence, Garry was fortunate to overcome the odds and eventually meet his wife. Together they moved to Georgia where they would get married, nurture and raise their family. Having been a Georgia native for a couple of years Garry enlisted in the Georgia National Guard with aspirations of later beginning a career in law enforcement. Garry would eventually serve a tour in Afghanistan and return with hopes to make his dream of of starting a career within law enforcement a realization.

Garry was cherished and respected among his colleagues, friends and family. He leaves behind a devoted wife and a loving, 9-year-old son. He was a self motivated, courageous, caring individual who's smile would light up any room. He was our hero. He will undeniably be missed by us all and many more. Thank you and may God be with us all during this time.
