Here are the top stories in Sandy Springs today:
- Fulton County Commissioners voted to allocate $517,000 towards refurbishing the Alpharetta jail. Alpharetta Police Chief John Robison and Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat have been putting in the work to reopen the facility since it closed due to staffing shortages in March 2020. Since that time, suspects arrested in Fulton County have been transported to Downtown Atlanta. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- For those looking to adopt a new pet, look no further than these loving animals available for adoption in your area. Over 6 million pets and other animals are surrendered or taken to shelters each year, yet only around half of those are adopted. A great facility to start your search is Rescue Me Ga Inc., along with others nearby. (Sandy Springs Patch)
- Dunwoody will host a Memorial Day ceremony on May 30 at Brook Run Park. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., at the Brook Run Park Veterans Memorial at 4770 N. Peachtree Rd. Charlissa Culp, 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, will serve as the event's keynote speaker.(Reporter Newspapers)
