Anne Frank Exhibit Extended

The Anne Frank exhibit at Parkside shopping center on Roswell Road contains more than 600 photos that tell the story of Frank, from her days of freedom in the 1930s to hiding with her family and later her death in 1945 in the Bergen-Belson concentration camp.

The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust announced an extenson of the exhibit, on Monday.

New pieces are planned for display. “The Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945” exhibit opened in Sandy Springs in February 2010. The exhibit, owned by the Anne Frank House and operated by the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the life of Anne Frank and the terrible events of the Holocaust.

Its extension is announced during Holocaust Remembrance Week, which commemorates the six million Jews who perished during the Holocaust.

“The City of Sandy Springs is fortunate to have one of the most important and largest Anne Frank collections in the nation,” said Mayor Galambos, in a statement. “Since its opening in 2010, the exhibit has educated visitors from 27 states and a number of foreign countries. I am honored that the City will continue to serve as home to this important exhibit.”

Galambos’ family escaped Nazi Germany in 1933.
