Here are the top stories today in Sandy Springs:

  1. Sandy Springs will host a back-to-school bash on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at City Green. The free event will run from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring games, music, fire trucks, and other exciting attractions. Kids will have the chance to meet the men and women of the local police force, fire department, and other first responders and essential workers of Sandy Springs. (Reporter Newspapers)
  2. The Fulton County special grand jury probe of the 2020 presidential election continues to focus on many of former President Donald Trump's closest associates. Sen. Lindsay Graham and attorney Rudy Giuliani are two of the latest names to be dealt subpoenas to testify in Fulton County. Many have already testified, but many of those who have recently been summoned intend to challenge their subpoenas. (GPB News)
  3. The Brookhaven Police Department has begun the process to review their ethnicity and race reporting requirements upon a recommendation from the city's social justice commission. The Social Justice, Race, and Equity Commission (SJREC) launched in 2020, and has discussed a need for precise race and ethnicity data. The city of Brookhaven voted to move forward with such recommendations in August. (Reporter Newspapers)
