Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

  1. Fulton County Schools students surpassed the state and national ACT scores averages and performed better this year than last. The state of Georgia showed a 20 percent increase in participating students while Fulton County Schools had a 60 percent increase. In addition, the results of the ACT showed a 40 percent increase in "College Readiness" with students exceeding benchmarks. (MDJOnline.com)
  2. Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul is expected to give a State of the City address tomorrow, Oct. 18, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber. Items expected to be discussed include the Local Options Sales Tax funding, the current economic and business climate, and a City Springs Master Plan expansion.   3. Mixed-use development office, commercial, and residential space could be coming to northern Fulton County in the future. The Development Authority of Roswell entered into a $150,000 agreement with the Sizemore Group for masterplanning the space at the intersection of Ga. 4000 and Holcomb Bridge Road.
