Day of Holocaust Rememberance Ceremony Set for Sunday

Sandy Springs residents will likely be among hundreds of people expected to attend the Observance at the Besser Memorial for the Day of Holocaust Rememberance.

The Yom HaShoah program will include the lighting of the torches; a special musical presentation; and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Jerome Legge, a Holocaust scholar and author of the book, Jews, Turks, and Other Strangers: The Roots of Prejudice in Contemporary Germany.

The Besser Holocaust Memorial Garden is located on the campus of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody. The event will be held rain or shine.

Each year, a special, community-wide Yom HaShoah commemoration is held at the Besser Holocaust Memorial Garden at the MJCCA. Holocaust Survivor Abe Besser and his wife Marlene Gelertner Besser built the memorial.
