Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:

  1. The Fulton County Sheriff's department reports that almost $1 billion worth of counterfeit items were seized during a flea market raid. The department has been working with the district attorney for months on the investigation. The department claims that the counterfeit items are hurting local businesses and employees that are selling the non-counterfeit items. (WSBTV)
  2. Residents in the metro Atlanta area are searching for answers about the increase in dead worms on local sidewalks and roads. Sandy Springs residents may have noticed the increase in recent weeks. Some homeowners are reporting that hundreds of dead worms can be sighted at one time. A UGA Cooperative Extension entomologist has reason to suspect the increase has something to do with an increase in non-native earthworms in the area. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. A cocktail reception for Celebrating Nurses alumni was held at Sandy Springs City Center. The reception is a collaboration between The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Northside Hospital. This year's reception is the first one since 2019. Celebrating Nurses is currently accepting nominations for the 2023 awards. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
