Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:

  1. Sandy Springs has rejected the idea to install a pedestrian bridge across Roswell Road. The City Council has decided to keep the large fountain in the design, however. The fountain will mirror a fountain in front of the Performing Arts Center. The initial cost of the fountain is estimated to be around $1.33 million. (Reporter Newspapers)
  2. Fulton County's potential budget deficit might impact Grady Memorial Hospital. The budget is looking at a potential $103 million gap. To prevent an unlawful deficit, the county will need to cut its 2023 budget by 10 percent. The cut will potentially lead to less funding for the hospital. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. Fulton County has still not hired a permanent Department of Registration and Election director. The permanent position has been empty since the previous director resigned in November 2021. Death threats, conspiracy theories, audits, and harassment have not made the position highly sought after. (Washington Post)
