  1. Recordings from within the Fulton County Jail appear to show footage of an ongoing "pay for protect" scheme within the jail. Stories of family members adding large amounts of money to inmates' accounts have been reported by a handful of individuals. A video recording shows an altercation between two inmates, though it cannot be confirmed whether the dispute stemmed from an argument over money. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. Atlanta's 911 call center has been plagued by thousands of pranks and non-emergency calls, leading to slower response times throughout the city and surrounding areas. While receiving over 3,000 calls a day, dispatchers claim that only about two thirds represent actual emergencies. A spokesperson from the center said that knowing one's location helps dispatchers get to the real emergencies quickly. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. Health officials are growing more concerned with the spread of monkeypox throughout the state. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 69 confirmed cases on Thursday, 20 more than the previous day. The Food and Drug Administration announced that it has approved the distribution of almost a million doses of the monkeypox vaccine. (WSB Atlanta)
