Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

  1. Gas prices in Fulton County continue to decline. The average price of gasoline in Fulton County is $3.42 per gallon, according to AAA. Despite the decline in Fulton County, the average price is still higher than the state's average of $3.18 per gallon. The decline is fueled by lower prices for crude oil.   2. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis reports that Milan Wash has been sentenced to life in prison. Wash pleaded guilty to murdering 7-year-old Kamarie Wash in 2016. According to court records, she hit the child, broke her jaw, and dumped her into Lake Allatoona. The state withdrew its notice of intent to seek the death penalty after the sentence was issued.   3. The fall Aging in Atlanta event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Sandy Springs. The event will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at City Springs in downtown. Participants will receive information on how to live their best senior lives. This is the first time the event has been held in person since 2019. (AJC.com)
