Here are the top stories in Sandy Springs today:
- Sandy Springs City Council approved $2.95 million more in spending to continue working on the design for the Hammond Drive project. During the May 17 meeting, the city agreed to pay consultant Gresham Smith to continue with preliminary plans, right-of-way plans, and final construction plans. Traffic data collected in 2019 revealed that the area between Roswell Road and Glenridge Drive accommodates approximately 17,500 vehicles daily, higher than the capacity for a two-lane roadway. - The Sandy Springs Society awarded $263,300 in grants to 32 nonprofit organizations at its May 17 annual meeting. More than 200 members gathered to hear how the funds will be used to further benefit the community. Read the full list of 2022 philanthropy grant recipients here.(Reporter Newspapers)
