Here are the top stories in Sandy Springs today:

1. Sandy Springs City Council approved $2.95 million more in spending to continue working on the design for the Hammond Drive project. During the May 17 meeting, the city agreed to pay consultant Gresham Smith to continue with preliminary plans, right-of-way plans, and final construction plans. Traffic data collected in 2019 revealed that the area between Roswell Road and Glenridge Drive accommodates approximately 17,500 vehicles daily, higher than the capacity for a two-lane roadway.
