- A tractor-trailer caught fire in Sandy Springs on Ga. 400 on Thursday. The rush hour incident left the section near Pitts Road with all northbound lanes of the highway closed. The tractor-trailer was carrying construction equipment that caught fire. No injuries were reported and all lanes were reopened by 10:30 a.m. (WSB Atlanta)
- Sandy Springs Police Department's Coffee With A Cop event on Feb. 27 has been canceled. The event, aimed at breaking down barriers between police and the community, will be rescheduled. The department wrote on its Facebook page, "We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused." (Sandy Springs Police via Facebook)
- In nearby Buckhead, the mayor could have the highest salary of all mayors in the United States if a proposed bill passes. The Buckhead mayor would receive a $225,000 annual salary in the new plan proposed by a Republican lawmaker. For perspective, this salary would be five times more than what the mayor of Sandy Springs makes. (WSB Atlanta)
