  1. Multiple Sandy Springs residents spoke in support of making Juneteenth (Jun. 19) a city holiday during the most recent Sandy Springs City Council meeting. Juneteenth is a nationally celebrated holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The item has been deferred to the Dec. 6 council meeting. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
  2. The Sandy Springs City Council has revoked a contract from Cooper & Co. due to cost escalations. The contract was originally approved for an $8 million bid for the construction of a new Fire Station #5. The company's latest offer was for $8.56 million. Reeves Young submitted a bid for $8.4 million. The contract has now been awarded to Reeves Young. (Reporter Newspapers + Atlanta Intown)
  3. Sandy Springs's Congregation Or Hadash will be hosting a weekend-long celebration of Jewish music and culture. The celebration will be held from Thursday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 11. The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Rising Song Concert on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. starring Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz. Visit the link for admission information.
