Kosher BBQ Festival On Oct. 21 In Sandy Springs

This sixth annual festival will be held Sunday at City Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The sixth annual Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival will be held this weekend at a new location. The community wide event, presented by The Hebrew Order of David International, the Atlanta JewishTimes, and Balloons Over Atlanta, will be held at 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at City Springs and will also include a new food category that will blend perfectly with the cooler temperatures.

The highlight of the day is the Kosher BBQ Competition where teams will showcase their skills on the grill. A panel of experts will judge the competition, but everyone who attends can purchase samples and decide for themselves who makes the best brisket, ribs, chicken and chili. The Jewish Educational Loan Fund is the main charitable organization involved with this year's event.

"JELF is honored to have been chosen by the Atlanta Kosher Barbecue Festival as a beneficiary from the event and are looking forward to seeing the community turn out for this incredible and annual event," said Jenna Leopold Shulman, CEO of JELF.

"It's a beautiful location, and we hope it will bring out people who love kosher BBQ and want to check out Sandy Springs' new downtown," Pollack said. "With our teams barbecuing all night long before the event, we hope the aromas will waft over all the adjoining neighborhoods and encourage people to follow their noses."

Pollack said adding chili to the competition will enable teams to make bigger batches of chili for more
people to taste. Pollack added organizers expect to have about 3,000 attendees this year.

While entry to the event is free, taste tickets may be purchased in advance through the website. This year's festival will also feature live music and a children's area. Kosher food vendors and other vendors and exhibitors round out the event. To learn more about Sunday's festivities, visit the event website.
