Leadership Sandy Springs Looking For Volunteers For Upcoming Event

The Sandy Springs organization's community service event will take April 23, and organizers are looking for volunteers.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Leadership Sandy Springs signature community service event for the past 20 years will take place from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022, and includes their community-wide recycling fundraiser, LSS RECYCLES.

There are numerous sites across the city for volunteers to choose from including recycling, public schools and playgrounds, city parks and community nonprofits.

According to Executive Director Jan Paul, “Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs is always a fun way to connect with friends and neighbors and help our community."

Children and families, as well as corporate teams, are welcome and thanks to LSS sponsors and site partners, we provide all tools and supplies, although volunteers may want to bring work gloves.”

be done at this link.

LSS RECYCLES will be from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. at City Springs South parking lot, across from the Farmers Market on Mt. Vernon Highway and Hildebrand Drive. LSS will be accepting used electronics, paint, youth sports equipment and medical devices.

Participants can drive up, drop off items and pay fees onsite for electronics: $20 per carload with small additional charge for some large items (see flyer for details) and paint: $5/gallon, $2/quart, pint, or spray can. There is no charge for sports equipment for Sandy Springs Youth Sports or for medical devices donated to Sandy Springs Rotary for FODAC – Friends of Disabled Adults and Children.

Traditionally held on the Saturday closest to Earth Day, Leadership Sandy Springs estimates that over the past 20 years, at least 4,000 volunteers have contributed approximately $800,000 worth of improvements to the Sandy Springs community.

“We’re so appreciative of our volunteers and sponsors who help make VBSS possible every year. Building community is central to our mission as a community leadership organization,” said Paul.
