🌱 Local UPS Union Authorizes Strike + Act3 Announces Musical Lineup

Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

1. Unionized employees of the Sandy Springs-based UPS voted Friday to authorize a strike in the event that an agreement is not reached on their contract before it expires next month. A total of 97 percent of unionized workers voted for the authorization, but the vote does not guarantee a strike will take place. Unionized employees are reportedly asking for improvements to driver safety, such as equipping more delivery trucks with air conditioning equipment. (WSB Atlanta)
2. One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Langford Parkway Westbound in Fulton County. The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Friday when the driver of a 2003 Monte Carlo hit a curb and struck a utility light pole. The driver's identity has not been released, and Georgia State Patrol officials are investigating the crash. (WSB Atlanta)
3. A local performing arts theatre has announced the lineup for its 2023-2024 season. Act3 Productions in Sandy Springs will open the season with the musical comedy Xanadu on Sep. 8. Other shows in the lineup include Perfect Arrangement and Lend Me a Tenor. (MDJ Online)
