Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

  1. Residents of a Sandy Springs townhome community are calling for increased security measures after a driver crashed through the entrance gate and into a home. The subdivision has experienced numerous crashes at the entrance over the years, but this incident was deliberate. The driver, who was attempting to harm his girlfriend, was arrested for aggravated assault, kidnapping, and DUI. No one was home at the time of the crash, which occurred on Friday evening. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. The 23rd Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (AJFF) came to Sandy Springs this weekend to show several feature films by Jewish filmmakers that celebrate Jewish culture and history. Since the festival kicked off on Feb. 8, the Performing Arts Center at City Springs has screened over a dozen AJFF films, with new screenings happening nearly every day between now and the end of the Festival on Feb. 21. General admission tickets are $18 per film for evening shows and $16 for matinee shows and all senior, student, and children’s tickets. Tickets can be purchased on the AJFF website. (Sandy Springs Patch)
  3. Kroger and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1996 have reached an agreement to increase wages for employees at Atlanta locations. The agreement will raise starting wages to $14.50 per hour for clerks and provide early increases for all associates in Atlanta and Savannah. The Atlanta division will invest over $22 million in wage increases, which will be implemented five months ahead of schedule, covering over 22,000 employees at 165 stores in Georgia. (WSB Atlanta)
