- The City of Sandy Springs held its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Film Celebration at City Hall on Jan. 16. “The holiday has become a day of learning, questions, and fun,” with about 200 participants attending the event. The celebration included educational activities, collaborative projects, and showings of the 1998 movie “My Friend Martin.” (Appen Media)
- Judy Schancupp, a Sandy Springs educator, was one of 22 educators selected by The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous to attend a Holocaust education seminar, the 2023 Advanced Seminar, from Jan. 14 through Jan. 16. The three-day graduate-level academic program focused on in-depth ways to bring Holocaust education to the classroom and explored several topics addressing the history of the Holocaust. Schancupp works for the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and visits schools throughout the state to bring Holocaust education to students. (Northside Neighbor)
- Fulton County School Systems announced that students, staff, and other personnel were evacuated from Westlake High School yesterday, Jan. 20, after a fire was discovered in the bathroom. Fulton County School System confirmed the fire was started in a bathroom trash can and said no injuries were reported. (11 Alive)

- Yesterday, Jan. 20, a vehicle was fished out of the woods by First Responders on the Outer Loop I-285/wb near Riverside Drive, Exit 24, in Sandy Springs. Triple Team Traffic reported delays and two lanes were blocked due to the accident. (Triple Team Traffic via Twitter)
- Remember, on Sunday, Jan. 22, the GA 400/sb lanes will shift back to mainline lines at 5:00 a.m. weather permitting! (Mike Shields WSB via Twitter)
