- The Sandy Springs Sustainability Committee has recently updated its Recommended Tree Species List. The list is used to provide recommendations to builders, developers, and members of the community when deciding to plant trees, with the new list outlining the benefits of planting native canopy trees to the local ecology. The new list is waiting for approval. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Fulton County recently passed the CROWN Act or the "Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act." The ordinance formerly bans discrimination against "cultural hairstyles commonly associated with race or natural origin" within the county and its unincorporated areas. However, the new ordinance doesn't include a penalty or liability for violation, so the county also approved a resolution that asks the Georgia General Assembly to look into creating a similar law. - The Sandy Springs Police Department would like to remind drivers that traffic units are closely watching for people performing illegal U-turns and other traffic violations along Glenridge Drive.
