SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Students at North Springs Charter High School want to make sure their fellow friends and neighbors battling tough times have enough food to eat at home. Members of the school's Thespian Society are participating in Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat, a national initiative that supports local food banks.

The school is collecting donations from members of the North Springs community to be given to the Community Assistance Center, a nonprofit that serves families in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

Monetary donations can be made online. You can also send cash or a check made out to North Springs High School. Those donations can be sent in with your children attending classes and given to Mr. Owens in room C103.

"Every day, the number of children in our society in need of a wholesome meal rises," North Springs said on its Facebook page. "Many children rely on their school lunches as their primary source for caloric intake. In Fulton County alone, there are 29 schools in which the entire student body is on a free or reduced lunch program. Overall, our community is facing increasing childhood hunger rates."

Community Assistance Center works to prevent hunger and homelessness in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody by providing assistance for food, utilities, clothing and helping their clients become self-sufficient. You can learn more about the organization by clicking here.
