Outdoor Photography Workshop On Nov. 3 In Sandy Springs

Tom Wilson will offer a one-day workshop along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy will partner with Tom Wilson to offer a one-day photography workshop on Saturday, Nov. 3.

This class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center at Island Ford, which is part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

Registration for this course is $50 per person, and the proceeds will benefit the Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy, a nonprofit organization. The Chattahoochee River and its environs provide endless opportunities for nature photography. Wilson, the course instructor, has been photographing the Chattahoochee River for more than 15 years, providing photography for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper during that time.

Participants should bring a camera, tripod and a means of triggering the shutter remotely or using an exposure delay setting, and be familiar with their basic camera operations such as focusing and manually setting exposure. A circular polarizing filter is also highly recommended.

The course begins in the classroom setting at the Lodge, with a break for lunch at noon and a second classroom session at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m., an outdoor session will be held, and will include a short hike down to the Chattahoochee River at Island Ford to practice some of the techniques covered in the classroom sessions.
