  1. On Tuesday, the Sandy Springs Police department participated in the Special Olympics Kickoff. Numerous police agencies from all across Georgia teamed up for the event, which comes ahead of the 2023 Special Olympic Games. But it wasn't just the athletes that got honored at the Kickoff! 2. The Fulton County grandmother who was found guilty in the death of her nine-month-old grandson has been sentenced after two trials. On Tuesday, officials announced that Tonya Monroe had been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Monroe was accused in 2016 of poisoning her grandson with methamphetamine in a Sandy Springs apartment. Monroe spent a month on the run from authorities before she could be arrested and stand trial. 3. Today (Dec. 7), Infant & Toddler Storytime will be held in the nearby Smyrna Library. The storytime includes age-appropriate stories and rhymes to delight the littlest readers. All of this will happen in a safe, relaxed environment that will allow caregivers and children alike to get lost in the magic of storytime. Registration is required; Infant & Toddler Storytime happens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so if you miss today's event, you can sign up for next week's sessions. (Arts ATL)
