- Sandy Springs will require its waste management services to offer recycling beginning in April after it was unanimously approved at a Jan. 17 council meeting. Sandy Springs Sustainability Manager Catherine Mercier-Baggett said, "(The city) would require that haulers include educational programs of recycling best practices." Although recycling will now be on the table for residents, this does not require residents to recycle. (MDJOnline.com)
- Beginning Sunday, Jan. 22 at 5:00 a.m., SR-400 southbound will shift back to mainline interstate lines. The shift will begin north of Abernathy Road to south of Hammond Drive. The shift will utilize the new Abernathy Road bridge. According to Sandy Springs Police, who announced the traffic shift, it could be postponed to Jan. 29 depending on the weather. - Party City filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday. The New Jersey-based chain has 13 stores across metro Atlanta. The business expects to pay out $74 million to vendors during the bankruptcy. (Subscription: Atlanta Business Chronicle)
